Are you planning a vacation this spring? March is an especially good time to go! It’s right at the beginning of spring, when the first flowers will start to blossom and temperatures will warm up a bit. However, you’ll still be well ahead of the summer crowds, so your stay will be peaceful and quiet. If planning to book a stay at a romantic Fredericksburg bed and breakfast, then you are particularly in luck! There are plenty of great events happening in Fredericksburg this March, and here are four of the best of them:
- Spring Break at the Pioneer Museum – The Pioneer Museum is one of the top attractions in Texas Hill Country. It is especially popular for those who are visiting Fredericksburg for the first time, as it reviews the history of the area and its earliest settlers. When you visit the museum during spring break (from March 7-13th), there are many demonstrations and hands-on activities for both children and adults. Some of these activities include watching a blacksmith work and making your own corn husk doll. You can also walk through many historic buildings and find out what life was like in Fredericksburg back in the Pioneer days. Call ahead of time to find out about activities, as some will change from day to day. Visit the website for more information.
- The 2015 Texas Hill Country Home & Garden Show – The 2015 Texas Hill County Home & Garden Show serves as further proof that March is a great time to visit. This show takes place from March 14-15th and promises exhibitors and sponsors showing off wonderful home furniture and interior design, and garden plants and patio décor. Admission is free for children and only $5 for adults 17 and up. All ticket proceeds go to the Hill Country Community Needs Council and Fredericksburg Shines. To learn more about the show, check out their website.
- Hill Country Indian Artifacts Show – Immerse yourself in the unique culture and heritage of Native Americans. The next Hill Country Indian Artifacts show is scheduled to take place on March 21st. Every year, this event features hundreds of vendors who sell unique Indian artifacts, including arrowheads, pottery, jewelry, and more. Door prizes and food are also available, and admission is only $6 per person. This is a fun and unique event to attend with your whole family! You can also reserve a space to sell artifacts of your own. Go to their website for more details!
- The Pacific Combat Living History Program – On March 14th and 15th, you can watch reenactments of a WWII battle at the National Museum of the Pacific War. All actors will be in full uniform, and there will be guns, tanks, and even a flamethrower to make the action more realistic! This is the perfect way to brush up on your WWII history and connect with it in a visual way. Shows will be at 11 A.M. and 2 P.M. both days. The cost of this event is $7.50 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children 6 and younger. Online reservations are recommended, as this event is expected to sell out fast.
