Here’s how to spend your 4th of July in Fredericksburg and Luckenbach:

  • After enjoying the continental breakfast stocked in your room, you can watch the small-town Patriotic Parade while it passes in front of the Cottages, or stroll two blocks down Main to where there will be Parade Viewing at the Pontotoc Vineyards Weingarten. The Parade begins at 10:00 am with an aircraft flyover, and features every entry decorated with red, white and blue. Following the parade, there is a free Patriotic Program on the Marktplatz.
  • You can continue the red, white, and blue theme with “Reds, Whites, and Blues” at Lost Draw Cellars on Park St. from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm and/or focus on just the Reds at the Annual Independence Day Chili Cook-off at Becker Vineyards from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm (a fundraiser for local charity).
  • Don’t forget to visit Luckenbach, just 10 miles away from your bed and breakfast in the heart of Fredericksburg. Be sure to return in time to enjoy a glass of wine on your patio or to relax in your personal hot tub.
  • In the evening, watch the Fredericksburg Fireworks Display light up the night sky at “dark-30” (9:30 pm).
  • If you prefer nature’s own celestial sparklers, Stars and Nights Forever promises “a light show like no other” at Enchanted Rock, an International Dark Sky Park with some of the darkest skies in the Hill Country. The telescope will provide views of planets, stars in the galaxies, and perhaps the Milky Way. Visitors should bring a lawn chair and dress for the weather; personal telescopes or cameras are welcomed. The program lasts from 9:00 – 10:30 pm, is weather dependent, and costs $7.00 per person (free for children ages 12 and under).
