Come one, come all, to the oldest continuous county fair in Texas! It’s the 130th Gillespie County Fair, from Thursday, August 23 through Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the fairgrounds in Fredericksburg, Texas. Get ready for four days of old-fashioned entertainment and tasty treats ahead at the Fair, plus all the things to do in the Texas Hill Country, from visiting wineries to exploring underground caves or boating on one of the Highland Lakes.
Look forward to the county fair’s parade, agricultural and household exhibits, an old-fashioned carnival and midway, antique tractor show, and live pari-mutual horse racing. Contests range from a washer pitching tournament to selecting the Gillespie County Fair’s Queen. Ranchers will be competing for the best market lamb, swine, goat, poultry and rabbit, plus breeding sheep and cattle. Displays of the best pies, pickles and preserves are guaranteed to make you hungry for fair foods from deep-fried treats to ice cream and sausage-on-a stick.
Don’t miss the evening’s entertainment! Friday, August 24, it’s Jake Hooker and the Outsiders at 8:00 pm Saturday, August 25, listen to four time Grammy winner Steve Wariner at 9:00 pm, followed by Cory Morrow’s Texas country music at 10:30 pm. Download the County Fair’s catalog for detailed information about all the events and exhibits.
