Don’t miss our Night in Old Fredericksburg, July 21-22, 2018. That weekend, Fredericksburg celebrates its heritage and Hill Country roots with live German and country music and dancing, a Lone Star BBQ Cook-Off, CASI Chili Cook-Off, goat roping, domino, and washer pitching contests, plus pari-mutual horse racing, arts and crafts, and more. Stay Fredericksburg at Wine Country Cottages or Wine Country Farmhouse and you’re only several blocks from Marketplatz, the heart of Fredericksburg, and less than a 10 minute drive to the Gillespie County Fairgrounds, site of this music and ethic festival.
Saturday, July 21, 2018, gates open at 11:00 am. The festival kicks off with live pari-mutual horse racing, 1:00 pm post-time. Activities are scheduled throughout the day, so stroll around the displays of artisan crafts, watch who’s winning at 42, sip a cold drink and sample some great local food. Saturday’s Lone Star Barbecue Society sponsored BBQ Cook-Off, will feature brisket, chicken, pork butt, pork spareribs, and beans. The award ceremony will be at 6:00 pm. Then enjoy live music and dancing all evening. Chris Rybak leads off from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, followed by Arkey Blue and The Blue Cowboys from 9:00 pm until midnight. General admission tickets for Saturdayare available at the front gate or online: $8.00 per person until 6:00 pm; after 6:00 pm, dance tickets are $15 per person.
Sunday, July 22, 2018, gates open at 11:00 am. Post time for the pari-mutual horse races is 1:00 pm. The CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International) Chili Cook-Off will be held on Sunday as well. The Cook-off is one of the nearly 500 chili cook-offs sanctioned internationally as qualifying events for the CASI Terlingua International Chili Championship© each November. General admission tickets are available at the front gate.
