Summertime Fun!

If you’re planning on staying at our bed and breakfast in Fredericksburg, TX in August to take advantage of the wonderful weather and things to do, this is the post for you. There is no shortage of things to do for visitors when stop by the Texas Hill Country. Here are some events we would recommend visitors check out if they come to Fredericksburg in August:

Hill Country Food Truck Festival (August 1)

Experience some of the best food available in the Texas Hill Country from a wide variety of vendors, try out some great Texas wine, and dance to some fun live music. All proceeds will go towards the Texas Center for Wine and Culinary Arts.

Live Pari-Mutuel Horse Racing (August 8-9)

Come out for a fun day at the track at the Gillespie Fairgrounds. There is quarter horse, thoroughbred, and greyhound racing available, and the gates open at 11:00 A.M. with races running until about 6. If the weather is extremely hot, which let’s face it can happen in Texas in August, guests can enjoy a simulcast of the races at the Race Barn.

Fredericksburg Trade Day (August 14-16)

Taking place during the second weekend of the month, Fredericksburg Trade Day is a time to relax at the biergarten with a beer in hand, listening to fantastic live music. There are a wide variety of vendors as well, providing crafts, antiques and other interesting products for shoppers.

127th Gillespie County Fair (August 20-23)

You certainly won’t want to miss the Gillespie County Fair if you’re in the area at the end of August. There will be a carnival, livestock judging, pickling and preserves contest, horse racing, arts and crafts, and much more. Bring your appetite as well. There will be plenty of local food.

If you have never been to Fredericksburg at the end of the summer, you’re going to be amazed. From some of the country’s best wineries, great food, beautiful natural sites, and fun live events, you’ll have a time like no other.
